Firearms are typically classified by type and can be identified using the Firearms Reference Table (FRT).  It is possible to access the database online as well as offline. The FRT Web can only be accessed by those who have been authorized to use it. Authorized users include police officers, gun verification experts, and other public officials. However, there are some common firearms that can be found in different regions. The following are the top 3 of the firearms that most make up the police gear of UK cops.

  • Handgun

A handgun with a barrel that is built in a chamber for semi-automatic fire. Box magazines are usually filled with cartridges, and then the grip is attached to the magazine. Firearms feed their next round via the action of the trigger. Ideally, the pistol should be used for single shots.

  • Rifles

Rifles are guns that have a barrel with spiral grooves and are meant to be shoulder guns. By introducing spin to the projectile, the range and accuracy can be improved. The magazine of some rifles can be removed, while the magazine of others is built into the weapon. Cabins and rifles are similar in appearance, and the two can be confused. As for the rifle, it is only suitable for a single shot.

  • Revolver

In general, a revolver is a hand-held firearm that consists of a cylinder with five to nine chambers. Each chamber is manually stuffed with cartridges that have been loaded into it, so users can fire several shots before reloading. The cylinder remains loaded with expended cartridge cases until they are manually removed. In contrast to the pistol and rifle, the revolver can be used for several shots.

Today, due to technological advancement, there are various types of firearms that are being developed. Hence, there is no limit on the number of firearms that can be included in police gear.
