SWAT Uniform vs. Air Force uniform: How different are they

Undoubtedly, one of the most effective methods of identifying tactical units and forces is to look at their uniforms. SWAT teams wear all-black uniforms while the Air Force often wears the regular army camouflage uniform.

When it comes to uniforms, the Air Force prioritizes lightweight materials. Due to this, they are often found wearing heavy ballistic shields, hard plate armor, and plate carriers. In addition to being protected from ballistic threats with various pieces of tactical gear, these aircraft are also designed to remain light while in flight. A member of an Air Force unit will most likely be wearing a camouflage uniform, which includes tactical boots, tactical pants, tops, headgear, and tactical eyewear for protection.

On the other hand, the SWAT teams deal with some of the most diverse terrains and are required to do a wide range of tasks. Their uniforms must be as versatile as their duties. The average SWAT officer has no idea what he or she may face day-to-day. A SWAT officer’s uniform is designed to protect them and prevent injuries on-field, so they are ready for anything. It should be highly breathable, extremely durable, stain- and tear-resistant, and fire retardant. In addition to being comfortable, it would also be easier for officers to carry tactical gear and weapons.

SWAT officers have been wearing green uniforms as an alternative to their natural all-black or blue uniforms for decades. Green may be an excellent choice for the police unit, but it also reads militarized. Despite this, green has the advantage of blending well in most environments and being difficult to see at night. As a result, officers are better protected and have a higher success rate in getting the job done on any assignment.
